Sephora Haul

I go through phases, when I’m into clothes, i’m INTO clothes, when I’m into shoes, I’m INTO shoes. And now i’m back into makeup. Well, I only wear the basics most days, but as I was shopping for a special occasion I found myself being drawn into one thing, and one quickly becomes two, and three, and four.. Bad habit, I know. But I recently cleared out my old stash and got rid of a few old things that are way too old and it felt liberating, it feels right to start afresh with a few new things. I’ve promised myself I would be good and would not get more than the basics, the stuff I would use on a regular basis. Having said that, I allowed myself to splurge a little bit at Sephora and Kiehl’s and invest on a few quality stuff that I would (hopefully) enjoy wearing and love to bits. So here’s what I got and a quick first impressions.

Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer

This primer doesn’t have the smooth-siliconey feel which is the case with a lot of primers. I’m used to siliconey primers, so the fact that this doesn’t have the same feel had me having second thoughts. But I decided to give it a chance – especially coz after browsing around this one is quite a value for money. It is darn expensive but other brands offer the same price for much lesser product. I’m pretty pleasantly surprised at how this primer performs as I said, I’m used to siliconey primer and the non siliconey ones I’ve tried doesn’t do so well. This one, though, delivers. It feels lightweight and sinks in very quickly. I only need a pea-sized amount of it to cover my whole face and it holds up really well for four to five hours.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation in Bamboo Beige

This foundation has a medium to high coverage and as such is a great choice for long wear or special occasion. I would not use this on a day coz the great coverage means it does feel like you have something on and I’d like my skin to breathe more easily. Having said that, I definitely love the look it creates – flawless, smooth and almost poreless skin.

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder

This powder foundation has a really smooth silky texture and that’s what makes me caved in in the first place. It comes in a wide range of color so there should be something for everyone, I asked the lovely lady at Sephora to color-match for me, and thankfully I did coz otherwise I would probably go something too light for my face – the shade I got actually looks dark on the pan but turns out to blend perfectly well with my skin shade.

Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight

This baked highlighter powder is LOVE at first sight. I sotted it at Sephora and definitely wanted one, but I thought I would sleep on it. I went back the next day and of course they sold out – only a day after it was released according to the sales assistant. They kindly referred me to go to the counter at David Jones, and so I did. And luckily they had it! What I love about it is that it gives a subtle glow without being glittery or shiny. I could get away wearing it even during day time, and it would just look like a healthy sheen. Some highlighter could look over the top that you could only use it on certain occasion, but this one is perfectly pretty.

Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Mother

Love this thing as I mentioned on my Sunday Post here. It is easy to apply and dries down to a matte finish in pretty much an instant. And the color is oh so gorgeous! Seriously this could start a liquid lipstick craze, and I’ve already had my eyes on a few others. I’m still trying to be good though!

Kat von D vs Formula X Nail Polish in Tijuana

I generally don’t spend more than $10 on nail polish but I’ve been wanting to try Formula X in a while, and this collaboration with Kat von D collection has that beautiful classic red and I think I would get a lot of use out of it. The polish has a nice and easy-to-apply formula and I feel like I could get away with one coat, even though two coats give a more polished and shiny finish.

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate

I love the Midnight Recovery Concentrate so much and I’m running out of day serum so I thought I would give this a go. As this product is intended for day use, I expected it to simply sink into the skin in an instant, which is not the case. It does feel like having a layer of oil on my face, though not as heavy as the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. But the good news, somehow it does work putting on makeup on my face, and it doesn’t look like I have oily skin.

And that’s a wrap for now! Time to hide my wallet!

.:: Sephora & Priceline Haul ::.

Heya! I admit I’ve been shopping quite a bit lately ( oops! ). A few basics, a few backups, and a few new things. Here’s all the things I got and a few first impressions.

Sephora Priceline Haul

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster. It seems I’m forever on the lookout of a good serum. I haven’t found one so far despite the fact I’ve tried a few. I saw this one on Sephora and remembered reading some good reviews about the brand, even though not specifically about the serum. But I thought I’d give it a go. My verdict so far – it smells loads of citrusy goodness, my skin drinks it like no other and feels smooth afterwards. It’s early days to say whether the serum works. But so far so good!

I used to be so obsessed to nail polish, I changed it out every 2-3 days, but as life gets busier by the day I just never bothered. But recently I’m falling into nail polish mood and grabbed a few new ones from Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure range – one of my favorites currently. I also grabbed some Essie, Watermelon and Hide & Go Chic ( this last one came from my Bella Box ). Love all of them!

Sephora Priceline Haul

I grabbed two things from Lee Stafford’s Argan Oil range, the Deep Nourishing Treatment and Nourishing Conditioner. This range is hands down one of my favorite hair products. The scent is just amazing and it works wonders! I usually go straight for the hair mask and never really cared about conditioner, but I went for it too this time coz the bottle packaging is a lot easier to travel with.

Next thing I picked up was Yes To Coconut Hydrate & Restore cleansing wipes. I’ve heard so many good things about this brand, so I’m kind of curious. I think it would be great for on-the-go or for those days when I can’t be bothered!

Sephora Priceline Haul

Aside from all those things, I also picked up a few basics – a few Original Source shower gels, taking advantage of the half-price deal they were having at the time. This brand has some of the loveliest and most unique scents. They have another one at the store, Vanilla & Raspberry which I’ve tried before but didn’t get coz it was too sweet for me. Instead I grabbed a big bottle of Lime which is my favorite one and the scents I’ve never tried before.

Okay, that’s quite a few. I think I’m pretty well stocked up for a while now!

.:: { Beauty } L’Occitane Christmas Haul ::.

L'Occitane Haul

Sometimes running out of several items at the same time could be a bad thing. But when a brand you love comes out with a special set just when you run out of stuff, it is a good thing! I have used and loved the Angelica range last year, so I was so happy when I spotted this just as I was on the market for a new moisturizer and toner. The set practically comes with a free cleansing gel and is packaged in a beautiful box. How could I say no? And I always love shopping in L’Occitane, especially the thoughtful little details like the perfumed tissue paper they put in the shopping bag and the nice cup of tea. I sometimes can’t get over the fact that they serve tea to enjoy whilst browsing the store. It’s the little things..

.:: { Beauty } Mend a Hand? ::.

Soap & Glory Hand Food

Being constantly exposed to changing weather, endless house chores and the fact that I wash my hands about 20 times a day, my skin is always extremely dry – my hands especially, sometimes to the point that it flakes and looks reddish on the knuckles if I don’t take care of them properly. A hand cream is an everyday must in my dictionary. I was running out of hand cream, so I made a visit to Mecca Maxima on my lunch break a few Mondays ago and got myself Soap & Glory Hand Food. Of all the Soap & Glory stuff I’ve tried – most of which I adore – this hand cream sits on top of my favorite list, easily triumphs all the others, simply because its non-greasiness and quick dry formula – making it perfect for work. After all you don’t want to stain your keyboard with grease, right? And it does wonders. It’s not a miracle product which would cure my dry hands in just one use, but I think there isn’t such a thing, and I don’t expect it to be one. Having said that, I do see improvements after only several uses. It does replenish moisture effectively minus the greasiness, and leaves hands feeling so soft to the touch. It is scented with Soap & Glory’s “original pink” fragrance, providing a divine whiff of smell that I couldn’t help to sniff every five minutes.

It features shea butter and macadamia oil, two well-known ingredients to provide protection and nourishment to the skin. It also features marshmallow, and I’m not too sure of the benefit of it in a hand care product, but it does makes things a little bit interesting, I guess. And as always, Soap & Glory’s packaging is adorable.

So, I would suggest you do yourself a favor and pick this up the next time you see this!

.:: { Beauty } Lush Eau Roma Water ::.

Lush Eau Roma Water

Today I’m going to talk about a product from one of my current favorite beauty brands, Lush. It is called Eau Roma Water and is described as a “Kind aromatherapy water to cherish your face. A gentle tonic for everyday use that will help hydrate the skin without causing it to overreact”. And it is rare that I agree with all of the claims of a product, but with this one, I genuinely do.

Eau Roma Water is a light toner water – it has a consistency of that of water, and it could easily elude you to think – what’s so special about this? My friend, let me tell you – this is good stuff! First of all, this stuff smells amazing! The rich mix of lavender and rose water smells wonderful. And I like that it comes in a spray bottle, I usually spritz a little bit of this onto some areas on my face and pat it gently with my fingers, and it absorbs effortlessly into the skin. Although it has a very thin consistency, it surprisingly leaves the skin smooth and supple in pretty much an instant – providing the relieving hydration my skin desperately needs. It is gentle on the skin and so far has not cause any adverse effects on my skin. I am majorly in love with Lush right now! I like using this especially at night, because it smells amazing and feels luxurious on the skin, and applying this on my face feels like a treat!

.:: { Beauty } More Real Techniques Brushes ::.

Real Techniques

I love Real Techniques brushes, they are affordable yet very functional, work great, so soft and  look pretty. I reach out for a lot of these brushes on a daily basis. It’s no surprise I decided to purchase a few more brushes to try, and one for backup. Yes, I love it that much.

Real Techniques

Expert Face Brush

This is the brush I repurchased to rotate between my foundation brushes. This brush is pretty much the brush I reach most often. The bristles are firm providing good coverage yet have the flexibility to reach the nooks and crannies of my face. Major LOVE!

Duo-Fiber Collection

This set has received quite a bit of mixed reviews on the net. Some hates it, some says it’s just okay, some loves it. I have always liked duo-fiber brushes, besides nowadays I like wearing just a hint of powder on top of my foundation, and I think that biggest brush on this set would probably do. So I thought I would give this set a shot. The clean white handles are sleek and a nice change from the usual colorful brushes from Real Techniques, but I wish it comes in a fun color.

Shading Brush

I bought this brush to complement the starter / eye brush set I got previously. I think that set doesn’t have a nice basic brush to apply base colors that fits my lids. This shading brush looks promising and looks like it has the right size. This should have made it to the set!

Setting Brush

I wanted to get a brush specifically for highlighters or under-eye setting powders and I thought this brush has a decent size for those purposes ( and who am I kidding, it’s pink so I had to get it ). We shall see!

.:: { Beauty } A Yummilicious Lush Haul ::.

  Lush Haul

I have always liked Lush’ concept of bringing fresh and natural skincare to the beauty industry, and the stores always smell so good, but I have never really ventured into their products. I was feeling a little extra girly one day and wanted to spoil myself a little bit, so I went into a Lush boutique and treated myself to a few yummy new goodies. It is always hard not to hoard on Lush items once you step into one of their boutiques, as it was that day but I tried to reassure myself that there would be a next time.

Lush Eau Roma Water

Eau Roma Water – Toner Water

I’m a huge toner believer and always on the lookout for good toner for dry skin. This one is targeted for specifically that, promising to gently hydrate skin featuring lavender and rose, which have both soothing and calming properties. I’ve had a good experience with lavender in my skincare – I swear by Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, so I thought why not try this one. I opted for the small 100gr bottle as it was my first time their skincare and thought this would be perfect for travel.

Lush Let the Good Time Roll

Let the Good Time Roll – Facial Cleanser

The lovely sales assistant at Lush pointed out to me that this cleanser contains popcorn. I immediately said, a little too loudly out of amazement, really? That sounds so yummy! That idea alone sold me to this product. I mean, popcorn? That’s too interesting I had to give it a go. Popcorn aside, this cleanser also promises to moisturize and exfoliate the skin as it cleanses. Sounds pretty good to me!

Lush Snow Showers

Snow Showers – Shower Jelly

If you’ve ever seen one of these in store, you’d know that they have the wobbliest jelly consistency ever. I’ve tried a shower jelly from L’Occitane before, but it wasn’t as wobbly as Lush’ shower jelly. Too cute! I was eye-ing another of their shower jelly called Sweetie Pie, but Snow Showers is a limited edition ( I think it’s a part of Christmas in July thing ), so I grabbed this cognac and orange oil-infused jelly.

Lush Haul

I am excited to delve into these products and hopefully will get back to you bearing good news. I have already a few other Lush things on my wishlist and can’t wait to make another visit to Lush!
